The social mask is new transparent mask model which also includes several smart features like checking the air for pathogens such as Covid-19 and asymptomatic people measure the user’s temperature and warn of potential contacts at risk.
This is the work of Romanian engineer Burzo Ciprian, and the idea earned him the MIT Pandemic ResponseCoLab award for an assignment proposing to reinvent masks, as the author explains on the Behance website.
Social mask made with plastic materials created by 3D printing and on the front it is a modular device made up of a biosensor, bluetooth sensor and fan.
For its part, on the side is air filter for better ventilation, temperature sensor and small LED display to display the user’s body temperature.
As its creator explained, the mask and its biosensors are capable of analyzing particles in the air to detect asymptomatic people infected with Covid-19.
Using the sensor Bluetooth allows a smart device to connect to a mobile phonefrom which the user can find out using the application his body temperature and analysis of particles in the air during breathing.
If indicators of infection are detected, such as airborne pathogens such as fever, the application warns the user about the need to see a doctor and expresses as a percentage the probability that he is infected with a coronavirus.
Likewise, Social Mask is a similar operation to close contact tracking apps like Radar Covid because can detect other masks up to 300 meters away and if its users have fever or not, as well as inform people in case of risky contact.
